Privacy Policy
This policy sets out what Lumasce collects from your computer, what we do with it, and what we deliberately do not touch. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
Effective date: 29 August 2026 · Version: v1.0 · Applies to: Lumasce desktop app (macOS / Windows)
1. In one sentence
We collect only what is necessary to make your account work, your subscription take effect and the software able to fix your video. If we don't need it, we don't collect it. The full list is below — check it line by line.
2. What we collect
2.1 Account information you provide
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Email address | Registration, sign-in and password recovery. We do not use it for advertising. |
| Display name | Optional; shown in the interface. |
| Password | Stored as a salted hash. We cannot see your plaintext password. |
2.2 Device information (reported once at activation, refreshed at each launch)
Used for device activation, device-count limits, and to help diagnose problems such as "is this a hardware configuration issue?".
| Item | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Device model | MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Dell Latitude 5420 | Brand and model only — we do not collect your computer name. |
| OS and version | macOS 14.5, Windows 11 | Major version only. |
| Processor / chip | Apple M3 Pro, Intel Core i7-12700 | Model class, not a serial number. |
| Memory | 8 GB, 32 GB | Capacity only. |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 | Model class. Apple silicon graphics are integrated and not probed separately. |
| App version | 2.4.0 | To detect known-problem old versions. |
| Device fingerprint | An encrypted string generated locally | Identifies which device this is, to enforce device-count limits. |
| Last active | 2026-08-29 17:20 | Refreshed at each launch. |
2.3 Usage information (generated automatically while running jobs)
We record what job ran, whether it succeeded or failed, and how long it took — to apply your entitlements, troubleshoot and improve the product.
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Job events | Timestamps for created, started, completed, cancelled and failed. |
| Job type and parameters | E.g. mosaic removal / subtitle recognition / translation, plus duration, engine, model, translation channel, output codec and resolution tier. All fixed option values — never your content. |
| File format and count | Only the format extension (mp4 / mov / mkv) and how many files were processed. File names themselves are not uploaded — they often contain people's or clients' names. |
| Failure reason | A categorised failure type; may include a summary of at most 200 characters, with file paths automatically stripped. |
| Launch and exit | For activity duration. If the app was force-quit or crashed, that time is estimated and capped at 30 minutes — it is never counted as you leaving it open all day. |
| Last sign-in | Time of the most recent sign-in. |
2.4 Order and payment information
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Order records | Order number, plan purchased, list price, amount paid, payment method, order and payment times — used to grant entitlements and process refunds. |
| Refund records | Refund reason, amount due and amount actually refunded. |
We do not store your card number, payment password or verification codes — those are handled only by the payment provider (WeChat Pay / Alipay).
3. What we do not collect
The following have no collection path by design — this is not "we collect it but promise not to use it":
- Video, audio or subtitle content itself — processing happens entirely on your computer; nothing is uploaded.
- File names and file paths — not reported. We extract only the final format extension (e.g.
mp4); the personal, project or client part never leaves your computer. If a path ever appears in an error message, it is automatically replaced with a placeholder. - Any other files on your computer — not scanned, read or uploaded.
- Computer name — the device panel shows only the auto-detected brand and model.
- Serial numbers (device, disk, MAC address, mainboard) — unnecessary to us.
- Contacts, location, clipboard, browsing history — not involved at all.
4. Why we collect it
- To make accounts work — registration, sign-in, password recovery, subscription across devices.
- To apply entitlements — your tier, remaining days, and how many jobs you can create per day.
- To enforce device limits — different tiers allow different numbers of activated devices.
- To process orders and refunds — ordering, payment, granting entitlements, and calculating refunds by remaining days.
- To troubleshoot — when you report "it's slow" or "it failed", we can see which machine, version and error class.
- To improve the product — which features are used, and which steps tend to fail.
We do not use this information for advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.
5. Where it is stored and for how long
The information above is stored on servers we operate within mainland China, transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
- Account and order information — kept until you delete your account; afterwards retained for the period required by law, then deleted.
- Device information — retained after unbinding or revoking a device, to identify repeated trials on the same device.
- Usage information — retained for 12 months for statistics and troubleshooting.
Your job files and outputs remain entirely on your own computer. Deleting a job deletes it completely — we hold no copy.
6. Third-party services
We share information only with the following categories of providers, and only to the extent needed to deliver the service:
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cloud provider | Server and database hosting. Data is stored within mainland China. |
| Payment providers | WeChat Pay and Alipay, for payments and refunds. We never handle your card information. |
| Email service | Sending verification codes and password-recovery emails. |
Beyond that we do not share your personal information with any third party. Where legally required, we provide the minimum necessary within the lawful scope and will notify you where permitted.
7. Your rights
- Access — view your account information and activated devices in the app.
- Correction — change your display name, email and similar details.
- Deletion — delete local jobs and output files; unbind devices you no longer use.
- Account deletion — after deletion we stop collecting and delete your personal information (except where retention is legally required).
- Withdraw consent — stop using features that require collection, or delete your account.

8. Minors
Lumasce is intended for adult users with video-processing needs. If you are under 14, please read this policy with a guardian and obtain their consent before use. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 14, we will delete it promptly.
9. Policy updates
This policy is updated as the product changes. If the scope of collection expands or its purpose changes, we will highlight it prominently in the app rather than changing it quietly. For material changes we may ask you to confirm consent again. Historical versions are reflected in the version number at the top of this page.
